Fellows and Doctoral Researchers - How to Apply

We welcome visiting research fellows and doctoral researchers who are carrying out research on issues of relevance to the work being conducted at the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice. Visiting Fellow positions are available to human rights professionals, academics on sabbatical, and post-doctoral fellows from around the world. All prospective fellows and doctoral researchers must apply through the Hauser Global Visitors Program.

Applicants should simultaneously submit a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, and a research proposal to the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice to the attention of Jayne Huckerby (Huckerby@juris.law.nyu.edu), informing the Center that the applicant’s materials have been submitted to the Hauser program, and informing the Center of the applicant’s interest in CHRGJ affiliation. Those accepted through the Hauser program and selected for affiliation with the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice will be invited to take part in the Center’s activities. In addition to the limited funding available through the Hauser program, the Center will do its utmost to support applications by potential visitors for funding from external sources. Applicants are encouraged to work with their home institutions to access funding.

Practioners in Residence

We welcome visiting human rights practitioners who are carrying out research on issues of relevance to the work being conducted at the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice. Practitioners in Residence are funded by their home institution and are provided library access, office space, and access to, and involvement with, Center activities and staff. Persons interested in being a Practitioner in Residence should contact Jayne Huckerby (Huckerby@juris.law.nyu.edu).

2005-06

In Fall 2005, the Center hosted Widney Brown as a Practitioner in Residence. Widney recently joined Amnesty International as the Senior Director for International Law, Policy and Campaigns. Prior to joining Amnesty, she was the deputy program director at Human Rights Watch. Widney is a lecturer at Yale University where she teaches a course on Health and Human Rights.
