International Human Rights in Context: Law, Politics, Morals

The Center’s co-Chairs, Philip Alston and Ryan Goodman are co-authors of one of the leading coursebooks in the field, International Human Rights in Context: Law, Politics, Morals. The first edition of the book was published in 1996, in collaboration with Professor Henry J. Steiner, the founder and former head of Harvard Law School's Human Rights Program. The third edition was published in 2008.

Following Prof Steiner’s retirement, this book will be replaced by a new coursebook authored by Alston and Goodman and published by OUP. It will be published in 2012.
